Quail Pepper Curry

Quail Pepper Curry is a delicious and healthy Indian Recipe goes well with chapati, Apam and Dosa.


  • Whole Quail – 4 to 6
  • Big size onion chopped – 1
  • Ginger garlic paste – 3 tsp
  • Chilli – 3 to 4
  • Black pepper powder –  2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Coconut milk (as thick as u want the gravy) –  300 ml
  • Sesame oil – 4 tbsp
  • Salt for taste


  1. Heat the pan pour the oil and wait till it get heated
  2. Add the chillies and ginger garlic paste
  3. Fry till the raw smells goes
  4. Add the onions and fry till translucent
  5. Add salt along with the onion to make the process easier to get translucent onion fast
  6. Now add the quail
  7. After adding the quail let it cook for 3 to 4 mins in slow flame
  8. After 4 mins add the coconut milk, let it boil for 1 min
  9. Add pepper powder and turmeric powder, stir well and close the pan with the lid for 5 mins in slow flame
  10. After 5 min open the lid and check if the curry is thick or thin, if the curry is creamy and thick and oozing oil in the edge of the pan then its ready to serve
  11. If the curry is thin then let them boil for another 3 mins don’t close the lid
  12. Serve it hot and garnish with some coriander leaves.
