Saravana Bhavan Mor Kuzhambu

 

Saravana Bhavan Mor Kuzhambu is a yogurt based curry made with pumpkin. It is very healthy and nutritious food. The recipe is very light with less amount of oil and spices, makes it an excellent cuisine for healthy conscious people. It contain a rich source of vitamins and calcium.

A very spongy texture and it’s sweetness with a combination of thick gravy in sour yogurt makes it a delicious.

To prepare  Saravana Bhavan Mor Kuzhambu

INGREDIENTS :
  • White pumpkin / Thadiyangai – 1/2 kg (sliced)
  • Yogurt – 1 cup
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tspn
  • Salt – as needed
  • Water – as needed
FOR MASALA : 
  • Coconut – 1/4 cup
  • Cumin seeds – 1/4 tspn
  • Shallots / small onins – 6
  • Green chilli – 2
  • Garlic – 2
  • Soaked raw rice – 1 tspn
  • Soaked bengal gram – 1 tspn
FOR TEMPER :
  • Coconut oil – 2 tspn
  • Mustard – 1 tspn
  • Urad dal – 1 tspn
  • Shallots / small onions – 3 (chopped)
  • Red chilli – 2 (broken)
METHOD :
  1. First grind the grinding items (given in the ingredients) into fine paste.
  2. Let’s start to grind, for that you have to soaked raw rice and bengal gram for 10 mins.
  3. And grind the grinding things given in the ingredients (for masala).
  4. In a kadai add sliced pumpkin and water allow to cook on a medium flame for 5 mins.
  5. Add masala into the boiled pumpkin and add in turmeric, salt and cooked it for 10 mins. untill the raw smell is gone
  6. Now off the stove and In another kadai temper the items one by one given in the ingredients.
  7. Pour it into the pumpkin mixture and atlast add yogurt to it and mix well.
  8. If you want add some water on it and mix well.
  9. Now Saravana Bhavan Mor Kuzhambu is ready.
