Saravana Bhavan Puli Kuzhambu

Saravana Bhavan Puli Kuzhambu Recipe South Indian as well as village style recipe prepared with all available vegetables. Puli kuzhambu is simmered in a rich tangy tamarind gravy, Serve hot with hot white rice and papadum without any side dish.

To prepare Saravana Bhavan Puli Kuzhambu Recipe

INGREDEINTS :

  • Turmeric powder – 1 tspn
  • Tamarind – small lemon or gooseberry sized
  • Salt to taste
TO TEMPER :
  • Gingelly oil – 3 tspn
  • Mustard – 1 tspn
  • Urad dal – 1/2 tspn
  • Shallots / small onions – 4 (finely chopped)
  • Curry leaves – few
FOR GRINDING :
  • Coconut – 1/4 cup (grated)
  • Shallots / small onions – 9
Dry roast :
  • Red chilli – 8 nos
  • Coriander seeds – 2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic clove – 1
VEGETABLES :
  • Lady’sfinger – 3 (cut into 1 inch size)
  • Brinjal – 4 (divide it into 4 equal parts)
  • Board beans – 4 (cut into 1 inch size)
  • Drumstick – 1
  • Cluster Beans / Cheeni Avarakkai – 3
METHOD :
  1. Dry roast the spices and cool it for 5 mins.
  2. Now add to the blender and grind, along with that add in shallots and coconut. Again grind it into fine paste and keep aside.
  3. Soak tamarind in 1/4 cup of water and extract pulp.
  4. Cut all the veggies.. Keep aside.
  5. In a pan add in gingelly oil add in lady’s finger and toss well.
  6. Now add in all veggies and some water..
  7. When it bring to boil add in a spoon of turmeric powder..
  8. When the veggies is half cooked add in grinded masala paste and mix well.
  9. Now add in tamarind water and allow to boil..
  10. Then add in some salt..
  11. Simmer the stove to float oil on the top..
  12. In another stove add in gingelly oil, mustard, urad dal and allow to crackle..
  13. Then add in chopped shallots, curry leaves and toss it till golden brown..
  14. Now pour it to the kuzhambu and mix well.
  15. Yummy Saravana Bhavan Puli Kuzhambu is ready to serve..
  16. Enjopy with white rice and papadam..
