Falafel is an arabic fried dish similar to masal vadai from Southern India made with chickpeas. Mostly Falafel is served in rolls with potato french fry and veg salads. This is actually a healthy dish, u can even bake or air fry this to avoid deep frying.

To prepare Arabian Falafel


  • 1c Chick peas Soaked
  • 1/2c Fawa Beans Soaked
  • 1c Parsley
  • 3/4c Coriander leaves
  • 1/4c Mint leaves
  • 5 to 6 cloves Garlic
  • 1 Onion
  • 1tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2tsp Cumin powder
  • 1/2tsp Pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp Bread crumbs
  • 1 tbsp All purpose flour
  • 1/2tsp Baking powder
  • 1/2tsp Baking soda
  • Salt
  • Oil for frying


  1. Soak the chickpeas and fava beans separately at least 12 hrs or overnight.
  2. Coarse grind the beans well.
  3. Now grind the parsley,coriander leaves,mint leaves,onion and garlic to a fine paste.
  4. Add this to the grinded beans and mix well.
  5. Add the powders and spices to this and mix well.
  6. Keep this aside for 15 mins.
  7. Now heat oil in a kadai.
  8. Now shape this to small vadas and fry in the oil till its dark brown and inner part is cooked.
  9. Drain the excess oil. Crispy Arabian Falafel is ready.
  10. Serve hot with tahina sauce, hummus with pita bread or any roti.
